alandipertis there a standard of some kind for laptop keyboard connectors? i'm curious about the feasibility of using a lenovo kb w/ trackpoint on a reform 2 when they come out, instead of the standard17:47
pinoaffealandipert: there is no standard, though manufacturers will usually just take what they used in the previous gen and change it if necessary18:30
pinoaffethat's why the t420 keyboard mostly works on a t430, and vice versa18:31
alandipertpinoaffe i see, thanks. so maybe the best option on the reform would be to graft a USB one on instead?18:39
pinoaffecould be, there's a usb lenovo keyboard that was used with the novena project a bunch, but for a lot of laptops the schematics are leaked, and the connectors they use are usually off-the-shelf parts, so re-using a laptop keyboard is doable, too18:52
mntmnif you have access to the keyboard's matrix pinout you can wire it to an attiny or similar like i use for the reform keyboard19:08
mntmnmaybe someone has made a usb adapter already?19:08
alandiperti haven't run across one but i haven't looked very hard. but it sounds like even if not, it wouldn't be *too* huge a project?19:50
alandipert(my electronics skills are lacking)19:50
alandipertalso, for USB, i have several USB thinkpad keyboards i could presumably just plug in19:50
