m2does adding the nuts to hold the base of the trackball really not make that much difference?20:18
m2i haven't expanded the black ring yet, but it seems like most of the binding is from the base of the trackball being loose and vibrating20:19
m2i also haven't found nuts to try adding them yet either20:19

mntmnm2, try it and report back :)20:44
m2will do, i'm using it an intermediate state right now. when I first inspected I noticed a few of the screws/nuts holding the black ring to the PCB were a little loose, and tightening those improved it somewhat21:20
m2sometimes it works great for a while, but occasionally it sort of binds up and is hard to move in a certain direction for a little bit21:21
m2and when I hold the  laptop upside down, its always very smooth21:22
esadsame here21:34

m2have you tried adding the extra nuts or shaving down the black ring ?22:34
esadno, still waiting to pass by hardware store to see if they've got m2 nuts23:05
esadI tried poking the ring with a toothpick23:05
esadthat did help a bit23:05
