Cavminute: the updated drivers and firmware seemed like a step backward for my Amiga. Now it freezes totally with a little "pfffszzz" from the speekers, totally locked with graphic distortion in a small ribbon cross the screen. Loooong reset with amiga, amiga, ctrl makes it stuck with black screen.  Only way back is power cycle.07:08
Cavminute: missed to use the -32meg version of the binary the first time. Same result with that one except no graphics errors, still frozen.07:16
CavAs soon as the AHI device gets initiated it freezes the AMiga. Same with the standard 1.10 and the 0429 version. 07:48
minuteok, thanks for testing!10:31
minuteChain-Q: remind me when you will be there today, from around 15?11:47
Chain-QI hope so, yes. the meeting officially starts at 15:00, but it'll take a while until people settle down, and build up their machines, so if you want to spare some time and go right into testing, come after 16:00 I'd say12:10
Chain-Qminute: cc (see above)12:10
minutesounds good, thanks!12:10
+ xet7 (~xet7@user/xet7)12:40
Chain-Q(in other news, found an AT power supply, that didn't kill a 386 board I had laying around, so... let's hook up the 4000T... -.-' :) )13:45
Chain-Qaaaand the 4000T is alive, now pack everything with lighting speed, and off I go.14:03
minutemight fix some crashes on boot: http://dump.mntmn.com/BOOT.bin-2022043015:45
+ gdonner (gdonner@c-98-253-93-116.hsd1.in.comcast.net)17:02
gdonnerminute: that fixed it--no more crashes on boot on my A3000 with the April 30th firmware--thanks!!17:03
gdonnerrock on.17:04
gdonner:)17:04
gdonnerBTW, HippoPlayer just got an update (2.52): http://aminet.net/package/mus/play/hippoplayerupdate17:06
gdonnersome good bug fixes and new features17:06
minutegdonner: awesome!17:11
apolkosnik[m]http://aminet.net/mus/play/hippoplayerupdate.readme17:21
apolkosnik[m]Very nice! fintro-gcc runs great on my CS MK1 now!17:40
apolkosnik[m]Before, I had to power off the A4k, as reboot wouldn't clear the locked ZZ17:41
gdonnerminute: although I might have spoken too soon; the first time boot had no problems, but then I got AXMP3-32meg to crash (~80 MB MP3 file), and I had to power my A3000 off to get it to boot up.17:43
gdonnerWhen that boot happened, it did crash with the same 80000 0004 guru, but then booted OK17:43
gdonnerso the guru can still happen; just not a guaranteed crash17:44
gdonner(first time boot with no crash was right after updating the firmware to April 30th rev)17:44
gdonnerAXMP3 crashed at the 33488896/79640022 streaming position17:48
gdonnerThe MP3 file that crashed it is 79,642,624 bytes in size (playing from RAM, but I have 512 MB+)17:49
gdonner(AXMP3-32meg I should say; I assume we're to always use this one in place of the original AXMP3)17:50
gdonnersmaller, normal MP3 files play fine :) this was just a large techno/trance (~1 hour long) file I thought I'd try17:58
gdonnerFWIW, there seems to be a cumulative audio corruption issue in AXMP3-32meg, or perhaps caused by the 8000 0004 boot crash?18:24
gdonnerplaying several normal-size MP3 files led to some pretty bad audio corruption/distortion18:25
_BnuOh.18:35
_BnuThis is probably just the AmigaOS memory management.18:35
_BnuIt is notoriously had at dealing with allocating big blocks of memory.18:35
_BnuThere's some replacement thing you can use somewhere on AmiNet, but I forgot the name of it.18:36
gdonnerhmm; something like that should be fixed in the OS--will make a note of it18:37
gdonnerif you can remember its name, let me know and I'll ask about it in the AmigaOS beta test group18:40
_BnuUnfortunately I can't remember it... It replaces the standard allocator with one ported over from MorphOS (?) for AllocMem/Vec and FreeMem/Vec.18:44
_Bnu(I kept running into problems with allocating large blocks of RAM while working with stuff on the PiStorm.)18:45
_BnuIn the end I just didn't bother and not-allocated a fake memory range for it on the PiStorm side, haha.18:45
minuteIIRC axmp3 doesn't allocate, it just dumps the mp3 somewhere in framebuffer ram 18:45
minutei have a CS MK2 in my backpack now 18:45
gdonnerhttps://aminet.net/package/util/boot/AllocP  <--- is this it?18:46
gdonnerIf so, it had a successor called "Poolmem" (https://aminet.net/package/util/sys/PoolMem)18:50
_BnuSorry, I don't remember. I never did try it.18:53
gdonnerok; no worries18:53
_Bnuminute: As long as "somewhere in frame buffer RAM" is not anywhere near the dreaded USB or ETH buffers...18:53
gdonnerI'll ask about the memory allocation issue on the OS group; worth a try18:54
_BnuThough that should typically lock up the entire card.18:55
gdonnerI wonder if that's what happened to me? I had to power off to boot up after AXMP3-32meg crashed while streaming the large MP318:58
gdonnerwarm reboots did nothing18:58
_BnuI did move the USB/ETH buffers waaaay away from the RTG memory at some point, but I'm not sure if that ever made it into the official firmware.19:02
_BnuOtherwise that will cause problems at some memory offset, because it'll get stuck forever in a memory access violation interrupt or something that I forget.19:02
minutewe'll need proper memory management on the card, but i don't know when i can build that yet.19:06
apolkosnik[m]weird, my a3k has been crashing on both feintro and feintro-gnu with ffff line19:07
apolkosnik[m]Not blaming the fw, because it's fine on my a4k with CS MK1, just weird19:09
minuteapolkosnik[m]: what if you do `cpu nodatacache`?19:09
minutegdonner: axmp3 is also not well tested yet, it's more like a beta at the moment. it's possible that the mp3 decoder can crash zz9000.19:13
gdonnerminute: ok; good to know! I kind of figured that, but just thought I'd throw that info out there in case it helps down the line19:16
minuteyep, thanks!19:19
- gdonner (QUIT: ) (gdonner@c-98-253-93-116.hsd1.in.comcast.net)20:15
apolkosnik[m]err F-line20:37
- xet7 (QUIT: Remote host closed the connection) (~xet7@user/xet7)22:20
apolkosnik[m]Hmm, I let it run for couple of loops, and it froze after 3rd or 4th loop, still much better than it was before where it would just freeze on the startup. By freeze, I mean that you have to turn off the computer, because reset does nothing23:08
