gdonnerForgive my ignorance, but where does HDInstTools reside? My web searches for it haven't uncovered any references to it anywhere?04:49

forcieyou only had 5 minutes to point out the correct package at http://aminet.net/package/disk/misc/hdinst05:13
apolkosnik[m]I started playing with a 4GB usb stick. It crashed on me first when formatting, then later when installing OS05:16

_Bnumntmn: Oh, I just realize you have NS support assigned for "TD_GETGEOMETRY", but you have no implementation for it...06:43
_BnuThat could probably cause some trouble with newer ROMs that use it.06:44

Jopenoo don't use hdinsttools15:35
mntmnwhy15:36
Jopeit doesn't respect the geometraahhhhhh15:36
Jopeit always calculates its own15:37
Jopeso if it disagrees with what is on the rdb, hilarity ensues15:37
Jopeand data loss15:37
Jopebut of course if you always use hdinsttools then it's all fine15:37
_BnuHDInstTools is kind of weird and janky at times, yes.15:47
mntmnfunky15:52
apolkosnik[m]Jope You can see the wrapping around of partitions larger than 4GB in HDInstTools 16:01
Jopemm mm16:21
mntmn_Bnu: currently need to find out wtf this is https://twitter.com/marksealey69/status/1450877845455126528?t=lD9r46228dvZZ1eJ1HmRYg&s=1919:34
mntmnlike, in the end you see him opening a menu19:34
mntmnand it takes a few seconds until it appears19:35
+ gdonner (~gdonner@c-98-253-93-116.hsd1.in.comcast.net)19:54
gdonnerno idea why my searches found no Aminet link--I even searched from within Aminet19:56
gdonneroy vey19:56
gdonnerbut thanks for the link!19:56
gdonner@Jope: But yeah, Thomas Richter has always said to never switch between apps (HDToolBox/HDInstTools) as each of them calculate available space differently19:58
gdonnerI think the safest app might just be the version of HDToolBox from OS 3.9; it had enough updates that it's decent19:59
gdonnerthe current OS 3.2 HDToolBox needs a massive overhaul19:59
gdonnerit's on the to-do list20:01
mntmnah20:07
Jopewhat's up with the 3.2 hdtb20:23
- TuKo (QUIT: ) (~tuko@46-126-211-54.dynamic.hispeed.ch)20:23
JopeI hope they don't overhaul it to be a reaction app20:24
gdonnerJope: it's had a few fixes, but it still needs a lot of work20:28
Jopesure..20:29
gdonnerI hope they don't either--I'm not a huge fan of ReAction over GadTools (ReAction is too laggy, IMO)20:29
Jopeyeh.. gadtools doesn't need disk based modules..20:29
Jopea tool like this should work from a minimal boot disk20:29
Jopeat least that's the way I mainly use it20:29
Jopenot from a fully booted workbench20:29
gdonneragreed. the more 'improvements' ReAction gets, the more it'll be just another MUI look alike20:30
Jopenot from a "preinstallation env" etc20:30
gdonneryeah20:30

_Bnumntmn: What video mode is it? I know Mark tends to use 16-bit on the PiStorm.20:50
_BnuThat's going to be really slow if it's 1920x1080, because it'll constantly be out of video memory.20:50
mntmn_Bnu: afaik the video modes don't matter, also this happens only on z2... my hunch is that this is a zorro problem20:50
_BnuOh.20:50
_BnuAnd the blitter is disabled, yeah?20:51
_BnuActually, what if you disable the screen split flag and function mapping if Z3 isn't detected?20:53
_BnuI still have difficulties doing things, though the pain in my side is a lot less bad now.20:55
mntmnoof, no stress! 20:57
mntmni guess i will look into it tomorrow20:57

emiespo[m]Oh another thing to report: trying to scroll a screen not from the status bar, but from anywhere using the modifier key (I believe it’s Left-Amiga…) will work but with a huge lag (like it will start scrolling after a second, slowly and flashing the screen, then it will be in sync with the mouse movement). Might as well be a P96 bug, I could do a video if needed.22:40
