_Bnumntmn: I think I got it figured out now, the 24bpp modes are actual 32bpp RGBX/BGRX.11:53
_BnuActually*.11:53
mntmnare you working on BIF_BLITTER support?11:54
mntmnor what'ssss the context11:54
_Bnuhttps://gist.github.com/beeanyew/63d581aeeb2da8210d08477590e59d2e11:55
_BnuYes, by enabling that flag P96 believes that you will be handling a bunch of conversion between formats when blitting things.11:56
_BnuTom-Cat on Discord has been testing it with the PiStorm RTG, since I can't do much at the moment.11:56
_BnuBut you can add something like that to the ZZ9000 driver, and it should work as well. Otherwise you'll get some spectacularly broken graphics in some things, like the buttons in iBrowse.11:58
_BnuAnd if you add 15-bit to that mix, it'll also need something on the ARM side to blit 15bpp bitmaps to other format destinations.11:58
_BnuFor instance AmiDock uses 15bpp images for some reason.11:58
_Bnu(So if WB is in a 16 or 32bpp mode, P96 will expect your video card to blit that straight from 15bpp to the destination format.)12:02

tryphoncosinusHi, it seems there is more activity here than with classical emails to report an issue :)14:13
tryphoncosinusI received the card with no damage on the box. I use A2000 rev 6.2, ROM 3.1, TekMagic 060, 128 MB RAM, PicassoIV, NTSC. I prepared a fresh install of AmigaOS 3.9 + Roadshow + Picasso96 2.0 + Altais on an empty CF card. The OS loading is really fast. With this configuration, I only used the Picasso scandoubler with Denise. No issue there.14:14
tryphoncosinusI pulled out the PicassoIV with its scandoubler and replaced it with the ZZ9000 and ZZ9000CX. SD card contains 1.9.1 firmware. After switching ON, I see a short green color on my monitor then a blinking screen displaying the Early Startup.14:14
tryphoncosinusI tried 3 different monitors and the issue is the same : the image is not stable switching with black screen.14:14
tryphoncosinusI pulled out the ZZ9000CX and seated it again. No more luck.14:14
tryphoncosinusOne of the monitors (Dell UP3216Q) supports these frequencies :14:14
tryphoncosinusHorizontal scan range 30 kHz to 140 kHz (automatic)14:14
tryphoncosinusVertical scan range 24 Hz to 75 Hz (automatic)14:14
tryphoncosinusThat should be ok with the ZZ9000.14:14
tryphoncosinusWhen the OS starts (first boot), it loads then waits about 1 minute (ZZ9000 boot?) then finishes to show up the Workbench screen. The image is not stable and the monitor does not show frequency issue. I installed the ZZ9000 driver. The installer suggested installing a 60 Hz configuration. I said yes. The computer was rebooted.14:14
tryphoncosinusWithin Prefs/Screenmode, I tried many ZZ9000 presets. The image becomes almost stable (rare black screens) but the pointer does not work! Even with the keyboard (Amiga key + arrows), the pointer is stuck.14:14
tryphoncosinusI tried a second A2000 rev 6.2 + ZZ9000 + 68030 + 4 Mo fast ram (also NTSC). The Early Startup image is jerky and scrolling down all the time. 28014 board is reported as Defective. the screen does not switch to black at the beginning but after several minutes, the screen behavior is the same as with my other A2000.14:14
tryphoncosinusA long time after the power is switched ON, the native amiga screen is black almost all the time in both my A2000s + ZZ9000.14:14
tryphoncosinusI would like to play with my ZZ9000 but it is not possible right now :'(14:16
mntmntryphoncosinus: most people that have trouble seem to have DELL monitors14:16
mntmntryphoncosinus: but the question is, is it a monitor problem or a scandoubler problem14:16
mntmntryphoncosinus: what if you press space in early startup to switch to PAL? does it change?14:17
tryphoncosinusYes and I tried Acer and I-INC monitors also that work with Picasso IV14:17
tryphoncosinusSpace bar makes change sometimes so that I was able to understand that video signal was there.14:18
apolkosnik[m]Kickstart 3.2 also has 31 kHz mode if you press enter14:18
tryphoncosinusI don't have 3.2 KS14:19
apolkosnik[m]Just saying... 14:19
mntmn31khz mode is not supported apolkosnik[m] 14:20
apolkosnik[m]Ok, so it would not go into pass-through14:20
mntmnapolkosnik[m]: nope14:21
tryphoncosinusNone of my monitors reported signal break or out of range frequencies. Video signal is there even if the image is black most of the time.14:22
mntmntryphoncosinus: can you try firmware 1.7 beta 3 for zorro2 instead? https://mntre.com/media/ZZ9000_info_md/zz9000-firmware-archive/zz9000-firmware-archive.html14:22
apolkosnik[m]tryphoncosinus which firmware do you have on the micro SD? 14:22
tryphoncosinusSure. I am doing ...14:22
apolkosnik[m]The boot.bin14:22
tryphoncosinusNow is 1.9.114:22
apolkosnik[m]Standard Z2? 14:23
tryphoncosinusyes14:27
- WoC (QUIT: Remote host closed the connection) (woc@2603-8080-cd40-00c6-eaaf-8a29-4225-dc1f.res6.spectrum.com)14:41
tryphoncosinus1.7 beta 3 (boot.bin) is on the SD card. ZZ9000 does not seem to boot on it. Is green light as HDD loght on the board? Screen is black.14:43
mntmntryphoncosinus: ok, thanks for trying. there is one last thing to test14:48
mntmntryphoncosinus: 1.8 https://source.mnt.re/amiga/zz9000-firmware/-/releases/1.814:48
mntmntryphoncosinus: can you give it a try?14:49
tryphoncosinusDone with 1.8. boot.bin seems to boot then AmigaOS loads normally but screen is black and the monitor does not return any error.15:03
tryphoncosinusImage is also black for Early startup menu.15:03
tryphoncosinusSpace bar does nothing15:04
tryphoncosinusJust to be sure : when Amiga is powered on, the screen displays a slightly light dark image.15:05
tryphoncosinusWith 1.7 : light dark image appears then a smaller and lighter dark image follows (but boot.bin 1.7 does not load).15:07
_Bnumntmn: Yeah, if you add my GetCompatibleModes thing, they'll probably be unbroken again.15:15
_BnuBut in general, it seems easier to just let P96 adapt 15bpp...15:16
_BnuIt's used so rarely.15:16
_Bnu(ShapeShifter gets a speed boost at 16bpp with the blitter enabled anyway.)15:18
_BnuI saw that you forwarded some emails about it now that I think about it, but that was when I was in the hospital and I couldn't really read or do anything, lolb.15:18
mntmntryphoncosinus: do you have another monitor connected on the normal rgb video out? this way you can check if RTG modes work15:27
mntmntryphoncosinus: can you try the 1.8 with another monitor (non dell)?15:27
mntmn_Bnu: i see @ 15bpp15:28
tryphoncosinusDone with a SyncMaster 214T, 30-81 kHz, 56-75 Hz. I did not use my CRT since a very long time. I will shortly take time to pull it from storage at basement. I tried again my A2320 scandoubler and it works like a charm with this fourth monitor. I have a 5th and 6th monitors I could try : NEC multisync and SyncMaster 226.16:47

mntmntryphoncosinus: all monitors you tried just show black image? btw you could try unplugging the zz9000 scandoubler and ~only~ use the RTG part at first while using your working scandoubler with another monitor. just to be able to debug things16:57
mntmntryphoncosinus: then you don't need to haul your CRT16:57
mntmntryphoncosinus: this way you could boot with 1.9.1 and do the bustest and some other tests16:57
