hackerdudeYea there's something screwy. 800x600 is the only usable mode, but when a change in the screen happens (double click on something, new app launching, etc) there's a huge 5-10s wait before it draws it very slowly.00:04
mntmnhmmm00:08
mntmnmntgfx is wrong, that's some new bug00:08
mntmnwith newest p96 i think00:08
mntmnso mntgfx are the va2000 modes00:09
mntmnis that a 68030? try "cpu nocache"00:09
hackerdudeYeah, CPU Nocache says 00:12
mntmndoes that change the speed?00:12
hackerdudeSystem: 68030 58882 68030-MMU FastROM (Inst: NoCache Burst) Data: Nocache Burts)00:13
hackerdudeNope. Same speed. 00:13
hackerdudeRubberbanding, like dragging a window works great, it's just once I release the window and it has to redraw the window it sits00:13
+ Salrus (~Salrus@2607:fb90:ab49:93aa:1557:d7fa:2d70:3ede)00:14
mntmnweird00:14
mntmndo you have any fastmem at the moment?00:15
mntmnah yeah in z3 space right?00:15
hackerdudeFast has 1.2Mb available, 3.4Mb in Use00:16
Salrushi, I need help I have a ECS A2000 and trying to use the ZZ9500 adapter and the A500+ firmware errors and the A2000 doesn't work with ether the adapter or the video slot (because ECS it looks)00:16
mntmncan you try an even smaller res, like 640x480 8 bit?00:16
mntmnSalrus: which firmware version?00:17
Salrus1.8 00:17
mntmnyou have a videoslot adapter too yes?00:17
Salrusyes00:17
mntmnok try the 1.9 beta fw & drivers00:18
mntmnhttp://dump.mntmn.com/zz9000-fwpack-1_9-20210923-zorro2.zip00:18
mntmn(with videoslot adapter)00:18
Salrusok00:18
mntmni will try to publish the other versions tomorrow00:18
hackerdudeSwitching to a ZZ9000: 640x480 8 bit is super slow too. Switching to the NTSC one goes back to normal speed00:19
Salrusif I have a video toaster would the zz9500 adapter work or is that only for the 50000:19
Salrusthanks for the help I will report back00:20
mntmnhackerdude: ok something's going wrong there. on the a500 with aca500 and 1230/4 it is very fast00:20
mntmnhackerdude: and also in a2000 with pp&s 04000:20
mntmnSalrus: sorry idk that @ video toaster. the denise adapter should word with a500 fw but there is no fw 1.9 yet for a50000:21
hackerdudeYea it unnerves me that Picasso86Mode still shows two. ZZ9000 and mntgfx VA2000 Fact. 00:21
mntmnhackerdude: try to attach ZZ9000 to ZZ9000 board in the menu00:22
mntmnof p96mode00:23
hackerdudeIt complained about clock not matching (75 vs 100). Overrode and I'm rebooting now.00:24
hackerdudeWhoops. I get output but now it's like the horizontal is broken :)  00:26
mntmnhuh 00:26
mntmnclock not matching stuff you can ignore, means nothing00:26

mntmnwhat do you mean by horizontal is broken?00:27
mntmnshifted picture? or distorded?00:27
mntmndistorted00:27
hackerdudeNonsensible screen, as if an old analog set had the horiz turned all the way 00:27
hackerdudeOk hold on might have been a fluke. Rebooted and it's fine now00:29
mntmnoh ok00:29
mntmnstill slow i guess?00:30
hackerdudeYep. Still slow tho00:30
mntmnmaybe you could do a memory speed test on the area $210000+00:31
mntmnit sounds like your zorro transfer speed might be limited00:31
hackerdudeNow the display modes do show as ZZ90000: tho00:31
mntmnok good00:31
mntmni forgot the name but there is a tool that can do speed test on memory addresses/areas00:32
mntmnif the card is at $200000 the framebuffer starts at $21000000:32
+ Salrus (~Salrus@2607:fb90:ab49:93aa:5813:a55b:768a:207e)00:35
Salrussame issue :( black screen when using ECS modes00:36
Salruswhen using the video card slot00:36
hackerdudeGot SSSpeed to see if it can test the memory casrds00:37
hackerdudeHmmm it doesn't test a whole bunch. It sort of just says the access times and you can't set an address. Chip from 858-3677 nanoseconds, fast 60 nanoseconds.  Will look for another tool00:42

hackerdudeA final update on this for now. Using a res of 800x600@165bit with 128 colors seems to work more or less okay. I do get a lot of background effects - parts that won't redraw, parts that leave little dots on the screen after closing windows. Redraw all seems to fix it01:46
Salruswell I can't get anything from HDMI I think I am going to call it a night02:04

apolkosnik[m]This is interesting... On the cold boot when the memory is not showing up, the gl-frontier intro works OK, but after reboot, when the Z3 memory is there, it freezes my a4k to the point where I have to turn it off05:00
apolkosnik[m]When I press ctrl-amiga-amiga, the box reboots, but the screen still shows the frozen frame from frontier intro05:02

mntmndoes that work? we shall see...20:30
KKfinally got my amiga working again..... a4k, 4060@50, zz + deneb + repulse, os 3.2, latest p96. also pulled out the serial to usb cable from zz out of the box so if i can be useful please shout. can also hook up jtag if required20:39
mntmnawesome KK 20:50
mntmni can confirm that the 2560x1440 mode works fine (at 30hz)20:50
mntmni'm not sure if the sii chip does 4k... i'm surprised it can do QHD20:52
pasikwell, it's easily withing hdmi 1.4 bandwidth limits21:36
pasikprobably even hdmi 1.3 bandwidth limits as it's only 30Hz21:37
pasik2560x1440 (reduced blanking) @ 60 Hz @ 8bpp RGB 4:4:4 is around ~7,2 Gbps.. so @30Hz around 3,6 Gbps only21:39
pasikhdmi 1.3 can do 6,75 Gbps, and hdmi 1.4 can do ~10 Gbps21:40
mntmnrelease in progress https://source.mnt.re/amiga/zz9000-firmware/-/releases/1.922:02
