_BnuIt kind of makes sense, since the Voodoo 3 is most likely slower than the ZZ9000 at doing FillRects and P2C.01:11
_BnuThe MoveWindow benchmark number is broken, so no stock should be put into that.01:11
_BnuBut SizeWindow always redraws the entire thing.01:11
CottonUndies@trixster Your Size Window and mine basically match. Your WritePixel is almost double mine! Q: Do you know why P96 Speed thinks you are using an AGA A1200?01:44
CottonUndies@trixster And thanks very much for posting.01:44

mnemotronbtw, after completely reinstalling os 3.1.4(.1) *and* also updating the scsi2sd firmware (which might have resulted in file corruption before), the zz9000 is working flawlessly now in my A3000. maybe i'll just start os 3.2 with another clean install.10:45

trixster@CottonUndies: I guess it’s because the machine is an AA3000+ which has the AGA chipset13:28

RobDangerousHello computer people! I'm having some trouble to make my new ZZ9000 work correctly in my A4000 (actually an A4000TX board but I think/hope that shouldn't make a difference). Currently I'm running in circles while mumbling snarky curses - are there other strategies for handling that? It doesn't show a picture on my TV (an LG CX) when I boot the17:43
RobDangeroussystem (aka when it should be in scandoubler mode) but the TV detects that something's there and suggests to switch to the port. Setting the 60Hz mode when installing the driver package didn't help. Picasso96 complaints about not being able to initialize things when I hit the monitor file and also shows no zz9000 screenmodes. Most telling maybe the17:44
RobDangerousboard doesn't show up in the expansion boards menu in early bottup. Three fancy lights light up on the board though when I switch on the computer.17:44
RobDangerousSo far I checked the firmware on the sd-card and made sure it actually is the current Zorro3 firmware. And I checked the sd-boot-jumper which also looks ok.17:45
RobDangerousIt's the first time I ever put a Zorro card in an Amiga after all these years so maybe I'm missing something obvious. But currently I'm just confused.17:45
mntmnRobDangerous: hi, you should try the fw1.9 beta, one moment17:48
mntmnRobDangerous: http://dump.mntmn.com/BOOT.bin-z3-1.9a-20210622c17:49
mntmnRobDangerous: rename to BOOT.bin and replace the file on the MicroSD card in ZZ9000 with it17:49
RobDangerousOkidoki, will be right back. Thanks!17:49
mntmnRobDangerous: the board not showing in expansion is not so good though.17:50
mntmnRobDangerous: might be some yet unknown incompatibility with A4000TX. you can try different zorro slots, or if you have another zorro card, put in in there too (try "before" and "behind" the ZZ9000). also try soft reboot (ctrl+amiga+amiga)17:50
pasikzz9000 works in my a4000tx17:52
pasikfor the reference..17:53
mntmnok cool pasik 17:53
RobDangerousNew firmware seems to make it output a black picture instead of no picture. Going to play some Zorro Shufflepuck Cafe with the system now...17:55
RobDangerousMeanwhile here's a picture of the card in the system, just in case that reveals anything: http://robdangero.us/zz.jpg17:57
pasikRobDangerous: my zz9000 is in the topmost slot, if that happens to make a difference..18:06
RobDangerousThat's what I'll try next, third slot didn't help and putting a buddha in the first also didn't help (but the buddha itself shows up in early bootup). But I could at least verify that the black picture is actually something - TV detects it as 800x600@60Hz so even the setting during the installer seems to have done something somehow.18:11
RobDangerousDo you have any other Zorro cards in there, pasik?18:11
pasikRobDangerous: currently no other cards18:12
RobDangerousHeyho, port 1 did it!18:22
RobDangerousPAL works and ZZ9000 modi work.18:22
RobDangerousAnd I have more memory now.18:23
RobDangerousSuper thanks for helping so quickly, pasik and mntmn. Now I can finally spend the next weekend playing old Amiga games on my crazy setup with crazy sharp pixels.18:27
+ Articat (~Articat2@2.68.78.38.mobile.tre.se)18:56
RobDangerousSooo, I think I'm seeing another problem but I'm afraid it might be something only I care about: PAL output seems to stutter occasionally unless I'm too tired to see right. Looks to me like the HDMI output doesn't sync up completely with the Amiga's output and has to catch up a frame every four seconds or so. That also seems to fit the data I saw19:11
RobDangerousso far - my TV reports 50.2 Hz for the ZZ9000-output while my OSSC reports something like 49.9 for the original Amiga-output (but still have to check what the TV reports for the OSSC-output). Is that a known problem? And is there interest in fixing that? If the answers are no and yes I'd be happy to spend the time on the next weekend to verify this19:11
RobDangerousand get some actual data on this like some slowmo videos.19:11
pasikyes, the common amiga videomodes run at 49.92 Hz19:13
RobDangerousSo this is a known problem? Aaaand... can I somehow persuade mntmn to add an option to lock directly to the Amiga's output?19:16
mntmnRobDangerous: _Bnu did some work on this, but it's currently inactive because there were some monitor compatibility problems... we will bring it back eventually19:27
RobDangerousYay. I suspected monitor compatibility would be the reason - that's the usual situation with old systems connected via an OSSC at least, some TVs don't like the slightly off-spec timings, others don't care. If it's made optional like the current 60Hz-option that would be fine I suppose.19:30
RobDangerousSo, serious question, can I throw some money at _Bnu to help?19:31
apolkosnik[m]What's the best setup to build the fw for ZZ9000? 20:06
apolkosnik[m]I wanted to try activating the audio channels in the HDMI stream20:07
_BnuI can bring back the 49.92Hz refresh rate no problem, but I'm not sure what would be a good way to make it optional so it'd still work on problematic monitors.20:12
_BnuThere's only one setup for building the firmware for the ZZ9000, and that's Vivado 2018.3.20:14
apolkosnik[m]Is it possible to have a config file on the microsd? 20:14
_BnuAnything else will fail to properly generate the project.20:14
_BnuAs far as I can recall, it's not possible to use the SD card for anything but loading the firmware, but I'm not entirely sure.20:14
_BnuI did receive the IDE extension cable from Claude earlier today, but I haven't had time to install it in the A4000 because I ended up with a touch-up project from hell all of a sudden.20:16
RobDangerousIs the code for the 49.92Hz-mode online somewhere? I'd also be interested in figuring out how to build the firmware myself.20:25
_BnuIt is, but it's the clock wizard settings that need adjusting because of the changed vblank behavior.20:28
_Bnu(And it's mostly trial and error.)20:29
mntmnwe can use the same config mechanism as with the 50hz, for starters20:36

RobDangerousyes yes yes20:37
RobDangerousAnd who is that wizard and where can I find him?20:37
_BnuXilinx created him, and he doesn't quite do what you ask of him.20:41
_BnuBut you basically have to guess at what MHz the video mode is output, and then provide it with multipliers and divisors that land you somewhere near that particular number. Unfortunately some values do not work, despite the documentation indicating that they should. I believe it's documented in the C source code somewhere.20:42
RobDangerousOh, that sounds nasty.20:43
RobDangerousI guess I'll just very carefully talk you into adding it back in then.20:45
mntmnpoor _Bnu needs a working hdd replacement solution20:46
RobDangerousWhat does he need exactly? I saw some message about an IDE cable earlier I think.20:47
_BnuI have a working HDD replacement, but I'm busy with work right at the moment, so I can't open up the A4000 and install it.20:49
RobDangerousHm, I'm afraid it's unlikely I can help with that.20:51
_BnuJust get on your bike and go over to north Sweden... I can keep working while you install the IDE extension cable and the SSD...20:58
RobDangerousAbout 150 hours by bike. That's less than I expected.21:16
apolkosnik[m]It shouldn't be longer than an hour, once I get onto the hypersonic troop carrier 21:23
