CottonUndiesSo, my system is 3.1.4, using P96 from a few months ago (not the most super recent); It has screen dragging enabled. My CPU is at 80mhz, and I get 105 MIPS from it. Since I am on a WarpEngine my RAM is at 40hmz (1/2 of 80). I might consider using older p96, but probably will not, as its the wrong direction for me to go. Is there default P96 (env) setting I should be using? Some of my figures are super low. I wonder if a 01:36
CottonUndiesutil or other program is causing the slowdown as well? 01:36
CottonUndies@emiespo You have local fast-ram, so do I, so very telling that you are getting even better than Bnu. May I ask for your SIZE WINDOW, and WritePixelLine8 figures?01:38
_BnuWhat? D:06:16
_BnuOh, emiespo! I misread that.06:17
_BnuOh, if you're using some WB extender, like MCE or whatever that thing was called, they can eat close to 30% of your CPU time, even when they're not doing anything.06:18

emiespo[m]CottonUndies: WritePixelLine8: 25783, Size Window: 180. I wonder if the lack of a FPU causes problems in regards to those values. The 68LC060 is a strange beast not really supported…09:26

CottonUndies@emispo Your WritePixelLine8 is almost same as _Bnu. Your SizeWindow is much fast than mine, but yours still is lower than _Bnu's 292. Very interesting. I'll list my P96 env settings for giggles.15:28
_BnuThe benchmarks are almost always completely CPU bound, especially WritePixel.15:33
_BnuBut I don't know how the 40MHz bus interacts with that...15:33
CottonUndiesI think the boss has a similar config with a WarpEngine, but having problems with it (and too busy to be running benchmarks!!!!!), I think Trixster also has a similar setup.15:41
CottonUndiesMy P96 was essentially on defaults, so nothing to see/find there....15:56

CottonUndies280k WritePixel on a WarpEngine? Thats crazy. I get 113k. I'm running at 80hmz, with Ram at 40hmz. I know 060 scale well, but that's out of the park, literally!16:59
emiespo[m]<CottonUndies "@emispo Your WritePixelLine8 is "> Yes, those numbers make sense. Bnu is probably running on plain os 3.1, whilst I have 3.9 with a 1meg Rom and a bunch of patches… that explains why SizeWindow sucks I believe XD17:00
- mnemotron (QUIT: Quit: He Who Must Not Be Named) (~wayne@194.135.47.239)17:40
_BnuYes, the amount of WritePixels the 68060 can do scales almost linearly, but the not-50MHz bus speed seems to have some interesting effects.17:42
_BnuBut basically a 100MHz 68060 on a 50MHz bus would be able to pull off ~280k WritePixel, because there's no memory or Zorro bandwidth limit getting in the way of that amount of data.17:42

_BnuWell I mean, that makes sense.21:04
_BnuIf we had some generic blitting functions in FPGA that we could actually sync with ACP, we could probably get less CPU load while blitting things around, but it'd require some pretty extensive multi-operations.21:05
mntmnweird that sizewindow and movewindow are slower22:03
